General Information

Maintenance Fund

As a Church of England Voluntary-Aided School, some of the running costs are the responsibility of the Governing Body. To meet these costs, the London Diocesan Board for Schools operates a maintenance scheme. Under this scheme, each school contributes to a fund held by the Board and, when a need for a repair arises, a claim is made. Funds have also provided for major refurbishments of classrooms.

Special Educational Needs

The school endeavours to meet the needs of all children according to their individual abilities. In accordance with legal requirements, where a child is identified as having special educational needs, discussions will take place between the class teacher, the school's Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and the parents/guardians. A suitable individual programme of work will be devised and progress monitored. The Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, is happy to meet with parent/guardians, of children on the Special Educational Needs Register, by arrangement with the school office.

Gifted and Talented Children

We aim to offer an enriched, differentiated curriculum where children are encouraged to be proactive, reflective learners including those with special talents and abilities. Further enrichment and extension activities are offered through small group work and extension activities, encouraging higher order thinking skills of analysis and evaluation.

Equal Opportunities

As a Christian school, we value practices which create positive attitudes to gender equality, cultural, ethnic and social diversity and special needs of all kinds. Education is based on equal provision, access, choice and opportunity for all. It should prepare children for the realities of life as a multicultural society, enabling them to live and work responsibly and harmoniously through understanding and respect for their own and other cultures.

Attendance and Punctuality

Good attendance and punctuality are important life skills and we expect parents to ensure that their children are on time and do not have time off school unless absolutely necessary. We do not encourage holidays during term time.

Uniform

We pride ourselves on our children looking smart. We expect all children to be in full school uniform at all times. Full details of the school uniform can be obtained from the school office and will be given to parents prior to admission.

Partnership with parents

We strongly believe in dialogue with parents. If you have a concern then please contact your child's class teacher or a senior member of staff, as appropriate. If in the unlikely event you are unable to resolve an issue with the Headteacher then a complaint should be addressed to the Chair of Governors at the school.

Charging Policy

Educational visits, swimming provision and some technology activities are only sustainable if we ask parents to make voluntary contributions to help meet the costs. However, no child is excluded from an activity if parents are not able to contribute.

Parents who are on income support may qualify for grants for school meals and clothing. The appropriate forms can be obtained from the school office, where every query will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Disclaimer

Whilst every effort has been made to ensure that the information contained in this prospectus is up to date at the time of publication, It may be necessary to make changes to the organisation and or the curriculum during the course of the year. The school will endeavour to advise parents of proposed changes as soon as they take effect.
