Our Facilities

 

St. John's is housed in a modern two storey building occupying a large open site in the conservation area of Hampton Wick. We are a short walk from the river, Kingston Bridge, Bushy Park and a little further on, Hampton Court Palace.

Inside, St. John's you will find eight air-conditioned classrooms and a number of smaller group rooms designated for a range of activities such as; English, Maths support and extension work, Modern Foreign Languages, Food Technology, Music.

There is a large, well resourced computerised library; an air-conditioned ICT suite fitted with flat screen computers and suitable for whole class teaching. All classrooms have interactive white boards and a further two computers for small group or independent work.

There is a large hall used for Assembly, PE and dining. The school is very well resourced ensuring the delivery of a creative and exciting curriculum.

There is a large, full cooking kitchen providing a healthy and varied menu cooked daily from fresh, quality produce. A smaller kitchen, used by the pupils for Food Technology and Cookery club and by our pre/after school care club, The Go for Its!.

The school is built around a courtyard garden used for class activities; by gardening club to grow a range of plants including their organic vegetables, produce for cookery club! The garden houses some of the pupils' wonderful art pieces and also provides a place for quiet, spiritual reflection and memories of loved ones.

Outside there is a large playground, adventure play area and playing field consisting of; a seven- a-side football pitch, running tracks, netball courts and rounders pitches.

The children also enjoy regular use of a large conservation area known as, 'The Wilderness', this is shared with our link school Hampton Wick Infant and Nursery. The Wilderness contains an outside classroom, nature trail, large pond with safe pond dipping platforms and a range of natural musical instruments. The Wilderness is the habitat of foxes, bats, birds and a range of other species.
